    Hello fellow Scenics!!!
Hope everyone is keeping well! I am studying Scenic Art at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and this term myself and my peers are working from home focussing our efforts into learning about quoting for jobs.

I thought it would be super helpful to know from you about how much you charge for your time as a Scenic (a subject that we all hate talking about) so I have created an anonymous short Survey asking you about money which will be huge benefit to our research and help us in our careers as Scenics!! Thanks so much for your time it’s hugely appreciated!!! (Short) Survey link below —

I’m not sure talking about pay is allowed here. When the bylaws are read before the webinars, it’s strictly prohibited to compare pay rates.  You should run this by the admins before you post it.

Thank you for bringing up anti-trust, Mary.

The Guild is a non-profit organization and is required to adhere to anti-trust laws. Anti-trust laws exist so that organizations do not interfere with competition in open market economies– which in this case would include the passing of private information such as specific rates for work. The possible outcome of this sort of thing is people changing their rate structure to suit information gleaned from his research, and thus we have directly interfered in the open market economy and violated anti-trust.

So, unfortunately, the Guild cannot host a survey asking for specific rates. Conversations about how to estimate rates and projects are welcomed, but they must not include suggestions or information about specific dollar amounts.

Philip, I apologize but I hope you understand that due to these laws we’ll have to take down your post.

We’re happy to answer any questions or comments anyone might have about this, to the best of our ability (no lawyers on staff here, just artists!).
