    Greetings all,

I’m a new member and this is my first time posting here. Apologies if I put the wrong category or the tags are not correct.

I’m currently working on my senior thesis on my passion, scenic painting! I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out a little bit. I’m specifically looking for information on what working as a scenic is actually like. I know that one can work under a scenic charge in a studio or as a freelancer, but I’m unsure how being the USA 829 union intertwines with both of these job environments and there are any more environments I don’t know about. I’m also wondering about the specifics of working in the aforementioned environments. How do professional scenics work with set designers in each of these environments? How does one get a job besides using the guild’s job board? (which by the way is very useful)

Of course I will credit everyone who’s information I use even a little of. I really appreciate any answers I get or resources I am led toward. I hope everyone reading this is doing alright today, it’s been rough recently.
